1 - BEN GUNN
Bendigo United, Golden Square, Strathfieldsaye
Runs: 4890 Innings: 128
HS: 160 Avr: 39.76
100s: 15 50s: 24
............................................
Wickets: 127 Overs: 837
Best: 5-46 Avr: 19.94
Strike: 39.54 5WI: 3
............................................
Fielding: 56
Addy MVP points: 8015
The BDCA's No.1 run-scorer of the decade through stints at Strathfieldsaye (1806), Bendigo United (2082) and Golden Square (1002).
Gunn's 4890 runs include 15 centuries and when up and going there's no better batsman to watch in the BDCA - just ask the Sandhurst bowlers who copped his 160 off 97 in a 2011-12 one-dayer.
Also handy with the ball taking 127 wickets. Won the BDCA Cricketer of the Year in 2015-16 and played in Bendigo United's 2013-14 premiership team.
2 - SCOTT JOHNSON
Golden Square
Runs: 3669 Innings: 120
HS: 138* Avr: 37.12
100s: 2 50s: 27
............................................
Wickets: 100 Overs: 729
Best: 6-33 Avr: 19.47
Strike: 43.74 5WI: 3
............................................
Fielding: 122
Addy MVP points: 6999
Amazing longevity from the Golden Square stalwart, who made his first XI debut in the 1991-92 season.
Reached the 300-game first XI milestone two years ago and earns a second Addy Team of the Decade selection having also been picked as an opener for the 2000s.
Doubt any player would have spent as much time at the crease as what Johnson did during the decade in which he compiled the fifth most runs with 3669.
A player who is always in the game given not only his contribution with the bat, but also picked up 100 wickets and was involved in 122 fielding dismissals for the decade.
Won the Cricketer of the Year twice for the decade - 2009-10 and 2012-13.
3 - HEATH BEHRENS
Bendigo United
Runs: 4095 Innings: 100
HS: 145* Avr: 46.53
100s: 10 50s: 23
............................................
Fielding: 95
Addy MVP points: 5050
Hard to go past a batsman who holds the BDCA record for the trifecta of most runs (11,579), centuries (28) and highest score (249).
And the left-hander was still churning the runs out until pulling stumps on his career after the 2016-17 career.
This is the second Addy Team of the Decade selection for Behrens in the No.3 slot.
Cracked 4095 runs for the decade with 10 centuries from 100 innings and is the only player among the top echelon of run-scorers to have averaged more than 40 during the 2010s. Premierships in 2009-10 and 2013-14.
4 - GAVIN BOWLES
White Hills
Runs: 3814 Innings: 112
HS: 165* Avr: 39.32
100s: 9 50s: 21
............................................
Wickets: 39 Overs: 214
Best: 3-27 Avr: 23.82
Strike: 32.92 5WI: 0
............................................
Fielding: 47
Addy MVP points: 5104
Classy left-hander who is still chasing that elusive premiership with White Hills.
Only Ben Gunn and Heath Behrens made more than Bowles' 3814 runs for the decade.
Peeled off nine tons throughout the decade led by an unbeaten 165 against Strathfieldsaye in 2017-18.
Still the most prized wicket in the White Hills' line-up who throughout the decade made almost 1600 more runs than any other Demons' player.
5 - CAMERON TAYLOR
Strathdale-Maristians
Runs: 3788 Innings: 119
HS: 144* Avr: 35.40
100s: 7 50s: 23
............................................
Wickets: 279 Overs: 1894
Best: 9-66 Avr: 17.41
Strike: 40.73 5WI: 18
............................................
Fielding: 65
Addy MVP points: 10,068
It has been a big decade for the Suns' all-rounder, who has a stacked trophy cabinet full of BDCA silverware.
Played in four Suns' flags during the decade (2011-12, 2012-13, 2014-15 and 2015-16) and won the Cricketer of the Year three times (2011-12, 2016-17 and 2018-19).
Not too often over the past decade was there a game where Taylor didn't impact the result with either bat or ball and like many of his successful Suns' team-mates, is fiercely competitive.
Ranked No.1 in the decade for wickets (279 with his leg spin), Addy MVP points (10,068) and No.4 for runs (3788).
6 - BEN DEARAUGO
Strathdale-Maristians
Runs: 3435 Innings: 126
HS: 159* Avr: 35.05
100s: 4 50s: 20
............................................
Wickets: 179 Overs: 1233
Best: 7-38 Avr: 19.58
Strike: 41.33 5WI: 6
............................................
Fielding: 72
Addy MVP points: 7785
Earned the reputation throughout the decade as Mr March. After all, DeAraugo did win four Taylor-Walsh medals as the best player in the grand final during the decade - three for his batting feats and one with the ball.
Tough to recall a better innings under pressure during the decade than his unbeaten 78 in the 2014-15 grand final against Strathfieldsaye.
Then again his 86 n.o. after coming to the crease with Strathdale 5-42 in the 2010-11 grand final against Bendigo United wasn't bad either.
Played in five flags through the decade and seemingly eats pressure for breakfast.
Was also in the 2000s Team of the Decade as a bowler. Now DeAraugo is a batsman who bowls a bit.
7 - BEN DEVANNY
Strathfieldsaye
Runs: 3418 Innings: 123
HS: 135* Avr: 31.36
100s: 7 50s: 15
............................................
Wickets: 179 Overs: 1522
Best: 8-51 Avr: 21.10
Strike: 51.02 5WI: 6
............................................
Fielding: 49
Addy MVP points: 7508
Blossomed into one of the BDCA's premier all-rounders during the decade as shown by the similarity of his stats to Ben DeAraugo - albeit without the five premierships.
Carried a heavy load with both bat and ball at Strathfieldsaye and produced the BDCA's No.2 ranked season of the decade in 2014-15 when he combined 650 runs with 40 wickets.
Of Strathfieldsaye's top eight scores of the decade, Devanny has six of them (Ben Gunn has the other two).
8 - CRAIG HOWARD
Sandhurst, Strathdale-
Maristians
Runs: 3155 Innings: 108
HS: 132 Avr: 32.86
100s: 3 50s: 21
............................................
Wickets: 221 Overs: 1526
Best: 9-60 Avr: 19.34
Strike: 41.43 5WI: 11
............................................
Fielding: 39
Addy MVP points: 7970
Howard's decade began at Strathdale and ended as a drought-breaking premiership captain with Sandhurst.
Howard's 221 wickets for the decade feature the competition's best figures of those 10 seasons with 9-60 for Sandhurst against his former team, the Suns, in 2016-17.
Played in the Suns' 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 flags and later led Sandhurst to the 2017-18 premiership - the Dragons' first for 39 years.
Over 200 wickets and 3000 runs speaks to the decade impact of the wily Howard.
9 - LINTON JACOBS (captain)
Strathdale-Maristians
Runs: 3360 Inns: 131
HS: 170 Avr: 28.97
100s: 2 50s: 18
............................................
Fielding: 209
Addy MVP points: 5645
Jacobs gets the gloves as the wicket-keeper in the side and given he also captained five premiership teams is also picked as skipper.
Was a big decade behind the stumps for Jacobs with 209 dismissals (170 catches, 39 stumpings) to go with his 3360 runs.
Batted all throughout the order for the Suns during the decade and be it at the crease or with the keepers' gloves on, always provides plenty of energy.
10 - ADAM BURNS
Kangaroo Flat
Runs: 3190 Innings: 116
HS: 113* Avr: 32.89
100s: 5 50s: 15
............................................
Wickets: 233 Overs: 1743
Best: 7-47 Avr: 17.19
Strike: 44.88 5WI: 12
............................................
Fielding: 62
Addy MVP points: 8520
Said it before and I'll say it again - Burns just keeps on keeping on.
Was part of the 2000s Team of the Decade and has backed it up with another superb 10 seasons for the Roos.
Over the decade Burns ranks No.2 for Addy MVP points (8520), No.3 for wickets (233) and No.12 for runs (3190).
A two-time winner of the Cricketer of the Year during the decade in 2012-13 and 2014-15 who still would be the answer for most players over the past 10 years when asked who is the best BDCA bowler they have faced.
11 - MIGGY PODOSKY
Bendigo United
Runs: 838 Innings: 93
HS: 44 Avr: 12.14
100s: 0 50s: 0
............................................
Wickets: 256 Overs: 1736
Best: 7-25 Avr: 20.46
Strike: 40.69 5WI: 7
............................................
Fielding: 48
Addy MVP points: 6488
Podosky fancies himself as an all-rounder, so probably a bit flat to see his name at No.11. But it's his bowling that has earned Podosky his berth. With 256 scalps, only Cameron Taylor (279) has taken more wickets than Podosky over the decade.
Podosky holds the mantle as the bowler with the best finals figures of the decade with 7-49 against Strathdale in 2013-14, while he has flags in 2009-10 and 2013-14.
