Damaging winds are expected to hit central Victoria on Thursday.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned northerly winds averaging 60 to 70 kilometres an hour would pass through the region in the morning, with gusts peaking at 100 kilometres an hour.
A cooler west to southwesterly change would then move through during the afternoon and evening.
Winds would then gradually ease following the change.
Isolated thunderstorm activity could also produce wind gusts of 100 kilometres an hour on Thursday.
The bureau warned Bendigo, Maryborough, Wedderburn, Kyneton and Castlemaine could be affected.
The State Emergency Service advised people to secure loose items and move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
People should stay indoors and stay away from windows.
