Artist and organiser Sharon Greenaway knew her fellow artists - Lorraine Brigdale, Tru Dowling, Maggie MacCathie and Lauren Starr - and, having wanted to put on a group show, thought they would work well together.
"I thought it was be interesting to have five women work on a particular theme," Ms Greenaway said.
She said the theme of the natural Australian environment was one that seemed to gel with everyone.
The artists have worked in multiple mediums - including photography, poetry and sculpture, among others - to express the way they connect to the environment.
Ms Greenaway said nature was a theme she worked in often, and through her art she wanted to encourage people to pay more attention to their natural surrounds.
The Natural Connections exhibition is in Exhibit B in Bath Lane's Fountain Court and will run until December 16.
