About 50 players hit the track at Scott Street as the Demons took their first step towards what they hope is an improved 2020 campaign in the Heathcote District Football Netball League.
After bowing out in the first week of the finals this year, the Demons have high hopes of going deeper into September next year.
Prize recruit Jack Fallon was one of the standouts on the track on Monday night.
The Eaglehawk premiership player finished second in the 2km time-trial behind Jake Hilson.
Hilson, one of Bendigo's premier athletes, is back at his junior club and he didn't appear to get out of second gear as he cruised around the 2km circuit in six minutes and 35 seconds.
Fallon was 15 seconds behind, with coach Sam Kerridge a close-up third.
The Demons also unveiled their new assistant coach.
Former Heathcote premiership player Marc Millard has signed with the club.
Millard, who spent 2019 with Sandhurst in the BFNL, joins Fallon as an assistant to Kerridge.
Millard undergoes knee surgery this week and will have a delayed start to playing action in 2020.
The HDFNL fixture will be released in the coming weeks, but it is expected White Hills will once again have a standalone game under lights at Scott Street to open the season.
