Jayden McDonald, 20, pleaded guilty in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court to charges of stealing from shops, recklessly causing injury, and breaching bail.
In March this year, McDonald attended an outdoor supplies store and stole a puffer vest worth $280, before leaving the scene quickly on a scooter.
He was found later that day outside the Bendigo Law Courts wearing the stolen item.

McDonald made full admissions to the offending, saying a friend had offered him $120 to steal the item but when that friend reneged on the deal, he decided to keep the vest.
Then in June, McDonald admitted to throwing a mix bowl for cannabis at his father, saying he had tried to take his "billy" off him.
In the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on July 5, McDonald promised magistrate Patrick Southey he would keep clean.
But on July 16, McDonald entered the Bendigo post office and stole two miniature security cameras, worth $159.95.

He told police he stole and sold them to pay for food, and he could not remember exactly what he had stolen as he was affected by Xanax at the time.
"It's incredibly disappointing, you told me you'd stay out of trouble and you didn't," Mr Southey told McDonald on Monday.
The court heard McDonald had since secured employment.
McDonald was convicted and fined a total of $1050, with costs.
Having breached a community corrections order, he was also ordered to restart that, which included 50 hours of community work.
