Bendigo Spirit's Tessa Lavey is one step closer to her Olympic Games dream after the Australian Opals' success at a pre-qualifying event.

The Opals finished the tournament with a 2-1 record and will now progress to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifications to be held in February next year.
In the first game the Opals defeated Chinese Taipei by 33 points, final scores 84-51.
The following day the Opals took on India and cruised to another strong victory, this time by a triumphant 85 points, final scores 114-29.
The Opals were given a challenge in their final game against Japan, where they were defeated by 13 points, final scores 69-82.
Japan will also progress to the Olympic qualifying event in February 2020.
Lavey played in the matches against Chinese Taipei and India, and finished with 12 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal.
Lavey had an overall average of six points, two rebounds and 2.5 assists across the two games.
