Rhianwen and Andrew Seiter bought the 140-year-old building back in 2014 and converted it into the Mackenzie Quarters - a residence and function hall, with a bar also to open in 2020.

The couple completed the residence renovation in 2015, while the restoration of Mackenzie Hall - where the wedding will be held - only started in June this year.

Mrs Seiter said the works cost the couple somewhere between $1.5 - $2 million.

"I feel like this is the money pit, but a glorious money pit," she said. "It's come together beautifully and it was beautiful bones to work with."

Mrs Seiter the couple always had the dream of running a wedding reception.

"We just set about making it happen, saving over the years and working towards it really slowly," she said.

"Finding the right property was obviously a really big key to it all. When we found it back in 2014, we thought, yeah we can see that."

Eaglehawk's Brayden Balnaves and Lucy Webster were the first couple to be married at the venue.

"We feel very lucky and privileged," Ms Webster said. "It's been an awesome experience to see it from start to finish. It's just incredible how much work they have actually been able to pull off."

Mackenzie Hall was still far from complete earlier in the week, but the team of local tradesmen were able to pull it together in time for Mr Balnaves and Ms Webster's big day.

"It was still a work site really," Ms Webster said. "But Rhianwen and Andrew have been such legends that we haven't been stressed for the whole process at all. They have fully exceeded expectations."

While the young couple were excited for their big day, Mr and Mrs Seiter were also ready to see their vision become a reality.

"We're super excited and super proud that we pulled it all together," Mrs Seiter said.

"It's so nice to cater for a wedding because everyone's in a good mood, everyone is happy, and it's such a celebration.

"To see this building re-purposed and given a new lease on life, I just think it's glorious."
