The Mount Alexander Shire Council has already turned its focus to next year's budget and is seeking input from local residents.
Many projects and services in the budget are already set but the current call out for other potential budget ideas will give the shire more time to learn about the ideas and consider them.
Whether it was roads, a focus on emergency services or a new pedestrian crossing, Shire executive manager of corporate services Carolyn Ross said the community consultation would also allow council to review how the priorities align with the Mount Alexander Shire Council Plan 2017-2021.
"While it may seem like a while away the organisation has started working on the Mount Alexander Shire Council Budget 2020/2021," she said.
"Staff and Councillors would like to hear now about ideas on projects and services that are important to the community.
"This will provide additional time to learn about the ideas and initiatives that the community have and help understand the potential funding required."
Surveys are available online and at the Castlemaine Civic Centre, and Castlemaine and Maldon visitor information centres until December 15. Visit www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay for more details.
