Now residents are again encouraged help their fellow community members in need by donating new toys and non-perishable or specialty Christmas foods to the cause this festive season.
Toys and food given to Uniting last year helped give about 300 families and 1000 children a more joyful Christmas.
Donations can be dropped at the Uniting centre at the corner of Church and Camp streets in Kangaroo Flat, the Uniting centre in Forest Street, or Bendigo MP Lisa Chester's office on the corner of Myer and Williamson streets.
"We are fortunate to have a network of not-for-profit organisations who work especially hard at this time of year to alleviate some of the financial stress and loneliness felt by many in our local community," Ms Chesters said.
Uniting's Kangaroo Flat centre is open Tuesday and Friday between 10am and 1pm, while the Bendigo centre is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 12.15pm and 1.30pm to 3.45pm.
Toys should be in their original packaging and remain unwrapped.
