The Maverick Racing Team driver made his way out west to the Western Speedway in Hamilton for round two of the VMPA Tritech Lubricants Series.
Fitzpatrick was up against veteran racers such as Bendigo's Graham West and Brad Wicks.
Significant downpour all day in Hamilton laid ground for a slippery night ahead on the track.
Fitzpatrick finished sixth in the first qualifier and fifth in the second.
The team made some adjustments to loosen the car up for the final qualifier where Fitzpatrick finished seventh.
The team and driver were happy with the car and decided to run with the same set-up for the 30-lap final race in which Fitzpatrick would start from 18th position.
Fitzpatrick was off to a solid start but an early race caution period due to rain made the track greasy for the drivers.
Not long after the restart an incident on the back straight of the Western Speedway impacted the then 13th-placed Fitzpatrick and lead to some minor unavoidable panel and suspension damage on the car.
However, not long after the race was declared with the weather setting in for the night, Fitzpatrick was classified 13th overall.
Maverick Racing's Kellie Fitzpatrick said they were proud of how her son Lachlan drove in his first modified sedan series.
"There were some fast cars out there and for a 16-year-old to maintain composure at this level of racing is nothing short of amazing," Kellie said.
She also praised the hardwork of the entire crew, in addition to the support from fans and sponsors.
Fitzpatrick is in 17th position on the overall standings with 37 points.
The team is hard at work repairing the car in the lead-up to the next race, round three of the series at Nyora Speedway on November 24.
