Bendigo Heritage Attractions is close to finalising the sale of the Royal Tram.
But before that happens, the tram will be moved from its place at the Rosalind Park piazza on Tuesday and will take up residence at the Central Deborah Gold Mine during summer.
"We've got some parties that are close to buying but it is not finalised yet," BHA chief executive Peter Abbott said. "We are working with a couple parties who are looking at buying it but, timing-wise, it couldn't be moved (by the new owners) until after Christmas.
"The cranes are coming in (to Rosalind Park) at about 9am on Tuesday morning. At the moment the plan is it will be lifted out, put on a truck and be taken to the gold mine at Central Deborah to use it as (cafe seating) through summer."
Mr Abbott said in the new year, the tram would go off to its new purpose.
"More than likely it will be out of town but I can't say more than that," he said. "We have been quite selective on who we sell it to."
