With multiple double-headers already done and dusted, the team is used to challenging weekends against top teams.
"The whole team is feeling pretty good as we've had plenty of practice this week, we're ready to go," Spirit player Shyla Heal said.
"It's a positive to play the top two teams first...it shows how good we can really be."
The Spirit head over to Adelaide to play the Lightning for the second time this season.
"We're getting used to playing the same teams, we just did it against Southside and the Boomers, so there will be no excuse not to get the win," Heal said.
Heal said a focus of the team was to play four consistent quarters.
"We can't have quarters where we fall asleep, if we play all four then we can beat anyone."
So far this season Heal has averaged 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
"Every game I try and bring as much energy as I can to the team, I love my role," Heal said.
Tessa Lavey believes the key to locking down the Lightning was controlling the team's guards.
"We know they are not going to let that happen again, so we're going to lock down their guards and make sure their bigs don't get offensive rebounds and second chance points," Lavey said.
"Also make them run really hard, they are not deep on the bench, so hopefully we will make them run a bit to tire them out."
During the game last week the Spirit kept the Lightning to approximately 27 points below their average game output.
"Some of their missed shots were wide open," Lavey said.
"For us, defensively, it was quite silly on our behalf in regards to some of the decisions we made.
"Luckily they are quite easy to fix which is good, so looking forward to the match this weekend."
After the match Lavey will fly to Malaysia for the FIBA Asian pre-Olympic tournament.
The team will have games against Chinese Taipei, India and Japan.
