BENDIGO'S daytime temperatures were several degrees higher than average during October, while rainfall was about 20 per cent of the norm.

The temperature soared above 30 degrees five days during the past month, compared to an average of 0.6 days between 1862 and 1992.
The city's average maximum temperature was 23.3 degrees during October 2019, higher than 19.9 degrees the 1862 and 1992 average.
The city's average overnight temperature however was about a degree lower than average. Bendigo's October 2019 mean minimum sat at 7.2 degrees, compared to an average of 8.2 between 1862 and 1992.
The city's coldest night was Friday October 18, when temperatures fell to 0.4. Its warmest was Friday October 25 at 16.6 degrees.
October rainfall was unusually low in Bendigo.
Just 10.8 millimetres of rain fell on the city compared to 52.4, the 1862 to 1992 average.

Castlemaine's average daytime temperatures were slightly above average during October, at 20.8 degrees compared to 19.4 degrees.
Average overnight temperatures were also slightly higher at 7.6 degrees compared to 6.7.
Two days were recorded as above 30 degrees.
Just 12.3 millimetres of rain fell in Castlemaine, compared to an average of 56.6.
October was hotter and dryer than average across Victoria.
Average rainfall was 65 per cent lower than October average of 63.8 millimetres.
Mean maximum temperatures were above average, but mean temperatures overnight were close to average.
