A MILE run is on the program for Saturday's non-shield track and field meet to be run by Bendigo Region at Flora Hill.
The lead-up to the mile at 2.35pm at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road includes sprint hurdles, 1500m or 3000m walk, and 100m sprint.
Other events on the track are the 4 x 100m relay, 3000m run, and 400m.
Several flights of shot put, javelin, long jump, and pole vault will be contested.
A highlight of the 2019-20 season is the tally of athletes competing each Saturday and the wide range of ages and events many are competing in.
Because it's the second weekend of the Victorian All-Schools at Doncaster, there will be no Athletics Victoria Shield action.
Bendigo Region will again we well represented at the All-Schools finale at Tom Kelly Reserve.
Athletes heading south include University's Jayden Padgham for the under-15 3000m.
Bendigo Harriers' Matthew Noden in the under-16 800m; Jorja Hill, under-15 javelin; Alex Pitt, under-16 javelin; and Xavier Pitt, under-14 800m, javelin, shot put.
South Bendigo's Abbey Conquer will contest the under-16 200m, and long jump.
Contenders for the under-15 200m and long jump included Sebastyn Andrea, from Melbourne Grammar.
Seb previously competed with South Bendigo AC before the recent move to Melbourne Grammar.
The under-14s hammer record could be under threat from Logan Sandland, of Bendigo Harriers, who will also line up in the javelin and shot put.
The Harriers will also be represented by Gretel Holmes in the under-16 200m; Haylee Greenman, under-16 javelin; Moala Christian Vaitohi, under-14 200m, long jump; and James Miller in the under-18s long jump.
First of the track and field events at Doncaster on Saturday are at 10am.
The field action starts at 9.30am on Sunday, and track begins at 10.30am.
