
Dragons welcome the Barbarians to town
Bendigo Dragons will host the Monash Barbarians for week 12 of the Gridiron Victoria 2019 season.
The Dragons are seventh on the ladder with a 5-5 record and will head into the match at Tom Flood Sports Centre confident after a strong 56-point win last weekend over the Northern Raiders, final scores 62-6.
The Barbarians are ninth on the ladder with a 3-7 record.
Dragons v Barbarians: Saturday, 5.30pm at Tom Flood Sports Centre.
Bendigo Touch Footy hosts Goldfields Cup
Bendigo Touch Footy is hosting the 2019 Goldfields Cup this Sunday.
Teams will travel across the state from Hamilton and Ballarat, in addition to squads from Bendigo to compete in the competition.
The tournament originally started as a rivalry between Bendigo and Ballarat, but has since grown to include other touch teams from throughout the region.
"There's always been a friendly rivalry between Bendigo and Ballarat," Bendigo Touch Footy's Olivia Holmes said.
"Even when both of the teams are away in other competitions, the rivalry always lives strong."
The teams will compete in women's, men's and mixed categories in a round-robin style tournament.
Finals matches will then be played to determine each category's winner.
The tournament will be held at Club Court, Strathfieldsaye on Sunday, matches commence at 9am.
