TWENTY seven teams, including a sprinkling from the Bendigo Volleyball Association, will vie for honours at this weekend's Dragon City Volleyball Tournament.
The long-running tournament will run over two days, starting on Saturday, at Bendigo Stadium.
It will feature four divisions of competition.
Bendigo association sides competing include Bendigo Dragons, Bendigo Academy of Sport, Hickman's Warriors, Crusoe Crusaders and Kanyana, which will be up against a host of visiting teams.
Round matches of the tournament will start at 8am on Saturday and run through until 9.30pm.
Final round matches will be played on Sunday morning with tournament finals to start at 2pm on Sunday.
The men's division one final will start at 2.30pm.
Association president John Sheen said the tournament was highly regarded within the volleyball community for its 'smooth operation and quality matches'.
"It gives local players the opportunity to compete against players from all over the state," he said.
"The Bendigo Volleyball Association is proud to continue its long running association with the Bendigo Pottery, who provide trophies for the tournament, which the event has become known for, and Bendigo Motor Wreckers.
All matches will take place at the Bendigo Stadium, entry is free and spectators are invited to come along and support the local sides competing for the Dragon City titles."
