
BENDIGO can expect a focus on "transformational" projects from mayor-elect Margaret O'Rourke during the fourth year of council's term.
Councillor O'Rourke has been elected to serve a fourth consecutive term as mayor of Bendigo. Councillor Matt Emond has been elected deputy mayor.
Projects such as Plan Greater Bendigo's second stage, industrial land for the city and road infrastructure towards Marong and Huntly were priorities Cr O'Rourke listed.

"There's a number of projects that we would like to complete, and it's also about setting up future projects for the City of Greater Bendigo," Cr O'Rourke said.
"We're looking for those transformational projects for Greater Bendigo until the year 2050, so that's looking at road infrastructure and the bigger projects that our city needs as it grows towards 200,000 people."
Cr O'Rourke confirmed she would run for another term on council in the next elections. She said the mayoral conversation was a year by year discussion, and each year was different, when asked if she would stand again for mayor if elected.

Deputy mayor-elect Matt Emond said he was looking forward to supporting the mayor, councillors and the community.
Cr Emond said his priorities were job growth, industrial land and making sure the Greater Creative Bendigo strategy was implemented.

MARGARET O'Rourke has been elected to serve a fourth consecutive term as mayor of the City of Greater Bendigo.
Councillor Matt Emond has been elected deputy mayor.
The City of Greater Bendigo announced the news on Monday morning. The roles were decided by secret ballot at a meeting of councillors.
Cr O'Rourke was the first councillor to serve back-to-back terms as Bendigo's mayor since the City of Greater Bendigo was created.
Cr Matt Emond will take over the role of deputy mayor from Councillor Rod Fyffe.
Both Cr O'Rourke and Cr Emond will be formally elected to their roles for 2019-20 at a special council meeting on Tuesday November 19, at 6pm in the Bendigo Town Hall.
