The Flyers took an early lead to the game outscoring the Spirit by four points in the first quarter, 23-19.
Their momentum continued in the second with another 23 points to the Spirit's 12, to take a 15-point lead going into the half-time break 46-31.
The Spirit showed signs of a comeback in the third with 20 points to the Flyers 23, 69-51.
A strong run in the final quarter saw the Spirit put 26 points on the board to the Flyers' 16.
However, it wasn't enough to get the job done, with the Flyers taking an eight-point win, final sores 85-77.
Martè Grays top scored with 22 points, nine rebounds and one steal.
Tessa Lavey put 17 points on the board with four rebounds and seven assists.
One challenge for the Spirit has been playing without Becca Tobin who was sidelined after taking a knock to the head at a training session.
Spirit's next game will be against the Lightning on November 1 at the Bendigo Stadium, tip-off at 7pm..
