Former Huntly and Golden Square midfielder Jack Daley has agreed to terms with the Dragons, while 2016 premiership players James Coghlan and Brodie Montague as well as Xavier Walsh, Billy Robertson and Dylan Morris are returning to the club.
The Dragons' 2019 season was littered with injuries and, at times, the club's lack of depth was exposed.
Coach Ashley Connick said the club was elated with its off-season signings.
"We're giving ourselves a chance with some increased depth,'' Connick said.
"Jack (Daley) was keen to get back to this level and he's been running for five or six weeks already.
"With Jack on board, plus the return of the other guys to the club, we feel as though we're ahead of where we were at this time last year. The competition for spots is going to be high.
"We've got a couple more players in Melbourne that we're talking to and we're hoping to know more about their plans in the next week or two.
"(In terms of recruiting) we should be done nice and early."
The only confirmed departure at this stage is best and fairest winner Jake Pallpratt, who has been appointed coach of his home club Benalla.
Connick confirmed the Dragons remained in the hunt to have Collingwood VFL midfielder Lachlan Tardrew play with Sandhurst full-time, while delisted Geelong AFL midfielder Scott Selwood had turned down an offer to play with his home club.
Selwood has been appointed development coach at Collingwood.
"Lachy is weighing up whether he'll have another crack at the VFL or come home,'' Connick said.
"We won't know until around Christmas time what he's going to do.
"We asked the question of Scott (Selwood), but he's going to align himself with St Mary's in Geelong when he doesn't have commitments with Collingwood."

Another recruit of sorts for the Dragons is 2009 Michelsen Medal winner Lee Coghlan.
The star midfielder suffered a season-ending knee injury in a practice match this year.
"Lee's last catch-up with his surgeon went really well,'' Connick said.
"He's done plenty of work already. He was riding the bike and starting to run before the end of the season.
"He might not be ready to play round one, but if he's not it won't be much later than that."
The Dragons will start pre-season training in late November.
