Bendigo council questions
One would have to question the wisdom City of Greater Bendigo to rent part of the top two stories of the Bendigo Bank Fountain Court for their offices while the dud hub is being built - for starters, there is a lot less parking there than at their current location.

It would be in the interest of the ratepayers to be informed how much this is costing us.
I am informed that the current council building is a one-off by the original architect, so you would think that if the council applied the same rules to itself as everyone else, then it would be fighting to keep this building rather than waste so much money on the dud project.

Freedom of the press concerns
Regarding freedom of the press: It should be of greatest concern to the public that the mainstream media are demanding the right to publish any security matters they deem in the public interest and be given special exemption from any legal and/ or other consequences which may flow from their actions.
In other words, journalists are to be the arbiters of Australia's security and defence secrets, knowing full well that in the face of the power of the press and arguments which will arise after publication that the attorney-general and government will give way and never prosecute, especially as in any court case there would be a danger that other secrets and personnel might be exposed and endangered.

Australia at the crossroads
Something caused me to bolt upright during the night recently. It was British speaker John Bercow shouting at Boris and his lot, telling them in no uncertain manner who runs the show.
Back here in our parliament we have Morrison shouting absolute waffle, and has been doing this since elected, and our speaker might as well be on holidays.
How much longer can this go on? I cannot remember such a hopeless lot.
Australia is facing a crisis, but you certainly wouldn't know it. The only fair dinkum opinion of these people cannot be printed in this newspaper. On a printable note, if this government was a business it would have gone bankrupt years ago.
We are treading water only because of a dam disaster in Brazil.
All we hear about is this "miracle budget surplus". Their theory seems to be, wait until it all hits the fan, then start spending. How ridiculous is that? Try telling that to your bank manager.
They cannot utter the word stimulus, something ordinary people grapple with on a daily basis.
The past six years have been a waste of time and millions of dollars of taxpayer money, but it's like who cares when nothing can inhibit your incompetence.
We care - it is our future.
