Bendigo residents were given the chance to hold a piece of history as the Melbourne Cup took up shop at Bendigo Myer on Sunday.

The 18-carat gold trophy has already visited six countries around the world, including England, China, and New Zealand.
It has also travelled to more than 30 places around Australia.
"The Melbourne Cup Carnival is such a special time for Myer customers and we are so excited that the Cup has come to our store," Bendigo Myer store manager Peter Griffin said.
"We thank the Victoria Racing Club for bringing the Cup to Myer Bendigo.
"Our partnership with the VRC spans more than 40 years, and we are thrilled to be a part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival."
The 158th Melbourne Cup race will take place on November 5.
