Burger restaurant Hustler owners Justin McPhail and Nick Horgan were called to their store at 11pm on Saturday night after a spare tyre flew out of the back of a ute and went through their store window.
Footage from the restaurant shows the stray tyre hitting the window, rebounding into a concrete pillar and then bouncing into the glass. Police have been in formed of the incident.
"The theory is that a ute has come through a speed hump near Wholefoods with the tyre in the back of the tray," Mr McPhail said. "Because they speed through (Lyttleton Terrace) to get air of the hump, the tyre has left the tray and come rolling through.
"It's highly frustrating to come in on your day off when should be with your family to deal with something like this."
Mr Horgan said it was lucky no one was injured by the tyre.
"It comes through at fair whack of pace, it could have hurt someone," he said. "When I got here at 11.15pm, the general consensus from people here was that (the car) tried to do a jump and the tyre flew from (the tray)."
The window could end up costing the small business thousands of dollars.
"At the moment it's just the excess but could be a couple of thousand dollars," Mr McPhail said.
"It is sheer luck that it was our window. A bit one way it would have kept rolling, the other way it would have been in next door's window. It's just dumb luck.
"If you sit here and watch cars, so many speed through and have near misses on the pedestrian crossing in front of us. Then there are hoons on top of the (Coles) carpark."
It is the second time the Hustler team has had a broken window in the past six weeks with someone kicking their window and damaging it recently.
in an effort to recoup some of the expenses from the tyre incident, the Hustler team created a special burger "the Stocky" - a donut bun burger with double maple bacon, American cheese, smash patty, spicy ketchup.
"What else can you do (but create a positive). Hopefully this is the last time we have to do it," Mr McPhail said.
Mr Horgan said the team didn't want to have to regularly create positives from negative situations.
"This time we have decided that when life gives you a spare tyre, create a spare tyre burger," he laughed.
"With the other window we decided to do something around 'smash patties, not windows'."
