IRIS PLACE
Head along to this open garden event and learn more about the colourful plant that is the iris.
There are more than 340 different iris plants to view, all in varying colours and sizes.
Iris in pots are also available to buy.

ON THE WING
To help celebrate the local community and clubs, the Eaglehawk Football Netball Club and Eaglehawk Cricket Club will come together for this music festival.
The aim of On The Wing is to support local groups and to help with running the organisations.
This music festival will be a way for the clubs to thank the community for its support.
The event will feature some of Australia's best musical talent, together with talented local artists, such as Jon Stevens and Killing Heidi and locals Taylor Sheridan and many more.
There will also be food trucks and a great community atmosphere.

SENIORS FESTIVAL
Now in its 37th year, the Victorian Seniors Festival is a time for people to celebrate and try something new in their community and further afield.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
The Hare Krishna Community of Bendigo welcomes the central Victorian community to celebrate Diwali (also known as Deepawali), the Festival of Lights.
There will be live music and a free vegetarian dinner.

BENDIGO SHOW
The Bendigo Agricultural Show Society is celebrating 160 great years.
This year's show will be one of the biggest and best yet.
There will be all the favourite craft competitions, including cooking, knitting, photography and more.
There will also be Lego featured alongside a robotics display and virtual reality farm tours.
There will be the livestock favourites with sheep, cattle, pigs, alpacas and goats.
Working dogs will also be shown in obedience and jumping competitions.

FAMILY HISTORY GROUP
The Bendigo Family History Group will host another informative committee meeting at the weekend.
Rob Leetham will address members about his research of the Australian Battalions in France during World War I.

MULTICULTURAL PARADE
Join in with the local Sikh community and celebrate the anniversary of Sikh Gurus at this multicultural parade.
The parade, also known as Nagar Kirtan, is a traditional way of celebrating with a festival, foods and much more.
There will also be various children's activities, face painting and a jumping castle.
The event will begin at Park Road, Bendigo and head towards Gaol Road, ending in Rosalind Park for the festival.

JUBILEE PICNIC
The Kyneton Horticultural Society is celebrating its 125th year with a jubilee picnic.

HISTORY WEEK
Celebrate history with the Bendigo Historical Society, as it hosts various events for History Week 2019.

FAMILY BUSH DANCE
The Bush Dance and Music Club will host a fun family dance.
Dances on the program will be old-time and bush dances with music by the Emu Creek Bush Band.

BENDIGO CLASSIC
The 13th annual Bendigo Classic is on again, celebrating radio controlled cars.
The three-day event will feature various competitions with standard class rules.
Entries will travel from all over the country for the event, racing their vehicles around the track.
The event is family-friendly with no alcohol or smoking permitted.

LET'S WALK
Victoria Walks will host weekly walks for people living in Kangaroo Flat for the month of October.
In partnership with City of Greater Bendigo and Healthy Heart Victoria, this event not only gets you out and about, but also helps increase fitness.

ST PAUL'S ANNUAL ART PRIZE
Now in its 26th year, the annual St Paul's Art Prize and following exhibition takes place for 2019.
There is, once again, a special photography section for local secondary school students.
The event also has all entries on display and for sale and a painting by last year's winner will be raffled.

COLIN COLAHAN
The Bendigo District RSL, with the support of the Eldon Hogan Trust and the Australian War Memorial, are launching exhibition, Colin Colahan: His Art and Life during the Second World War.
This year is the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, with the RSL and Soldiers Memorial Institute Military Museum highlighting the service by central Victorian's in Europe during the Second World War.
One such person is Australian war artist, Colin Colahan, born in Woodend in 1897.
During his time as an official Australian War Artist, Colin Colahan had produced 83 works.
The exhibition will comprise of 26 pieces and has been curated by SMIMM curator, Kirsten McKay.
Accompanying the exhibition will be the launch of the SMIMM's first special catalogue.
The exhibition will be launched with a floor talk by Peter Perry, an acknowledged expert on the work of Colin Colahan, on Sunday, October 20 at 2pm. Admission to the floor talk is $10, which will include an afternoon tea.

ARTISANS TRAIL
Hosted by Mandurang Valley Artisans Trail, this event features up to six locations with a unique story and the artists behind the locations.
Locations featured include the Spring Gully General Store, art and food; Raw Boards, timber products and artists; Marilyn's Wildflowers, an open garden; and many, many more.

BALENCIAGA: SHAPING FASHION
World-class couture has come back to town, with Bendigo Art Gallery's newest exhibition, Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion.
This exhibition showcases the growth and works of designer Cristobel Balenciaga and his legacy of the modern designers he influenced.
The exhibition will feature contemporary designs by the house of Balenciaga, with video footage that shows historic garments morphing into modern interpretations.

DESERT LINES
Desert Lines: Batik from Central Australia brings together about 60 selected works from the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria.
The works show the unique and distinct batik styles (a method of wax resist fabric printing) of five central desert communities: Ernabella (Pukatja), Fregon (Kaltjiti), Utopia, Yuendumu and Kintore (Walungurru).
This exhibition will showcase the batik work for women of the desert and it's importance. It will also show interconnected through ceremony, travel and much more.

FAMILY CONCERT
The Marist Brass Band has teamed up with the newly formed Marist College Concert Band to present a combined concert.
The concert will showcase how playing an instrument can be fun at any age, whether it's at school, or playing in a community group like Marist Brass.
Three different bands will perform, with music ranging from Beethoven to the Black Eyed Peas.
Entry is just $2 at the door and afternoon tea is provided.

PLAN AHEAD
KYNETON MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Macedon Ranges will come alive with the sounds of the Kyneton Music Festival this month.
The eighth annual festival is expected to once again attract locals and those from further afield to the scenic town of Kyneton for music fun.
This year's festival features a huge line-up with acts such as Ali Barter, Stonefield, Jade Imagine, The Putbacks, Hobsons Bay Coast Guard, Black Cab, Ben Salter and many, many more.
Taking place over two days, the annual festival will immerse itself in the town with iconic Piper Street playing host to the centre of all the action.
Festival passes are $105 for the weekend or $80 for Saturday only.

SPLATTER RUN
In partnership with Wedderburn College, Inglewood and Districts Health Services are hosting their annual Splatter Run.
The Splatter Run is now in its second year and is a unique event in the Loddon Shire that celebrates health, happiness and participation for youth.
Setting off at 11am, runners of all ages and abilities will participate in a day of fun, exercise and colour.
There is a choice of participating in the 5km, 1.6km or both.
This run is untimed so there's no pressure to compete.
There will also be various entertainment such as, the opportunity for students to try a new sport, a DJ providing music, an obstacle course, fun from The Zone and various other activities.

MUSIC AND DANCE
El Vito Chamber Group, featuring renowned 10-string guitarist Matthew Fagan and internationally acclaimed concert pianist Nicholas Young, continues its tour collaboration in central Victoria.
Matthew Fagan is one of Australia's finest guitarists, having toured with Billy Connolly, Shirley Bassey and many more.
He has also performed in more than 120 countries as a soloist with orchestras and bands.
Nicholas Young completed his Bachelor of Music at Sydney Conservatorium with first class honours and a university medal. He has since won multiple awards for his work.
The duo will be joined by special guest flamenco dancer, Laura Uhe, combining their musical passion and innovative dance in an exciting new performance.
Laura Uhe trained in classical ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance from the age of four and at 14, she became a member of the Perth City Ballet Youth Company.
