The Woods and Beasties opened their season with a 69-all tie at Inglewood in a thrilling contest.

While the Woods and Beasties went right down to the wire, Kangaroo Flat made an early-season statement with a dominant blowout 44-shot win over last summer's runners-up Eaglehawk, 93-49.

The Flat had all rinks up and is the first team to occupy top spot on the ladder.

Other round one winners were Golden Square and Bendigo.
