Windows were smashed, with handbags and purses among items stolen, Senior Constable Andrew Loricco said.
"It's pretty brazen to do this sometime around 6am or 6.30am in the middle of town," he said.
Two cars in First Choice Liquor had their passenger side windows smashed.
Two more parked along Williamson Street were also targeted.
More news:
Olivia Wharton was among those to discover items missing when they returned to their cars after working out this morning.
She did not lose any of her valuables but a companion who had left a handbag in her car did.
Ms Wharton urged others not to leave things in their cars.
"Don't leave anything on display. Hide them," she said.
