Meade was among 2370 competitors to tackle the 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run in what doubles as the world ironman triathlon championship.
He marked his first hit-out at Kona by racing in the 30-34 years class.
A gruelling showdown in the water and on the road for Meade went for almost 10 hours as he completed the world's toughest triathlon in a time of 9 hours 52.43 minutes.
The Bendigo Triathlon Club star completed the swim leg in 1:01.45 to be 76th in his class, and powered on a tough cycling leg in a time of 5:07.22, which was followed by a marathon run.
He was 94th of 167 in his age group and 458th overall as he achieved a long-term goal to race at Kona.
There was plenty of family support for Meade in Hawaii and he will now take a well-earned rest before his next hit-out on the triathlon circuit.
