READ MORE - BDCA round 2 preview
THE Northern United Cricket Association season hits off on Saturday with no competing team carrying the tag as the reigning premiers.
The NUCA competition has been reduced from eight teams last season to six following the withdrawals of Dingee and Raywood.
Dingee won last season's premiership, but has pulled out of the competition due to a dwindling volunteer base, ageing player group and the challenge of attracting new players.
And Raywood lost a chunk of university players from last season that seriously impacted its numbers and capacity to field a team.
The withdrawal of Dingee and Raywood leaves the season to be fought out between Bagshot, Calivil, Colbinabbin, Elmore, Goornong and Heathcote.
* Saturday's round one games:
Bagshot v Calivil
