READ MORE - Abrams returns to BFNL as Maryborough coach
GISBORNE has joined the list of what is now six BFNL clubs that will have new coaches next year.
After two seasons at the helm of the Bulldogs Young has announced he is stepping down.
"My family and I have cherished our time at the club and I wish them the best in years to come. I'm not sure what is around the corner in my football journey, but our family is looking forward to whatever that may be," Young said in announcing his decision.
Young led the Bulldogs into finals in both seasons as coach, including to the preliminary final this year where they were beaten by four points by Eaglehawk.
"Youngy has done a fantastic job, but he has decided not to reapply and we respect his decision," Gisborne president John Wood said.
"We'll now have to get ourselves in the process of finding a new coach, but that is all part and parcel of footy clubs.
"At this time of the year we know we'll need to get onto it fairly quickly and that will be in the hands of our director of football Andrew Reaper."
Given the exciting nature of their talent-laden young list, the vacant Bulldogs' position should create plenty of interest among coaching candidates aiming to continue the rebuild work of both Young and his predecessor Brad Spear.
Gisborne joins Castlemaine (Angus Monfries), Kangaroo Flat (still to be announced), Kyneton (Nathan Thompson, Maryborough (Justin Abrams) and Strathfieldsaye (Darryl Wilson and Shannon Geary) as BFNL clubs that will have new coaches next year.
