EIGHT drink drivers were caught in central Victoria at the long weekend, exasperating police.
"It's not like we didn't tell them we were coming," Bendigo Highway Patrol's Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said.
Bendigo police conducted more than 1800 breath tests and caught 45 other people breaking other road rules.
Across the region, a total of 217 offences were detected and just over 1000 extra hours of patrols were dedicated to Operation scoreboard.
"I'm never pleased when we catch anyone. These results are lower than previous years but they are still too high," Senior Sergeant Brooks said.
"We managed to get through the weekend without serious injuries or fatalities, which is what we always hope for."

"We must remember the families and extended communities of the two people who lost their lives," he said.
