A 'Great Telescope Muster' is planned for the evening of October 4, weather permitting.
The Bendigo District Astronomical Section of the Astronomical Society of Victoria has invited people to bring their telescopes and join them in viewing the moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and more.
More than 320 International Observe the Moon Night events and participants are registered on the NASA website.
The Bendigo event is one of four in Victoria.
BDAS said International Observe the Moon Night was an annual event encouraging observation, appreciation and understanding of the moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration.
"The annual event connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world," the group said in a statement.
International Observe the Moon Night this year coincides with World Space Week.
Bendigo's gathering is scheduled to start at 6.30pm.
Organisers said a gold coin donation would be appreciated.
