A man injured in a single-vehicle crash near Heathcote at the weekend remains in a critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
He was the only occupant of the vehicle, which crashed into an embankment on the Warrowitue-Forest Road near Youngs Lane about 5.40pm on Saturday.
The 45-year-old received life-threatening injuries and had to be rescued from the vehicle.
UPDATE, 9.10am: The man remains in a critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
UPDATE, SUNDAY, 8.45am: A 45-year-old man was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition after a crash in Heathcote last night.
Bendigo Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Peter Dyer said the man received life threatening injuries after crashing his car into an embankment on the Warrowitue-Forest Road near Youngs Lane
"Investigations into in why he left the road are ongoing," Acting Sergeant Dyer said.
"We have spoken with a number of people at the scene by no one saw the incident."
The man was the only occupant of the vehicle.
UPDATE, 6.20pm: The person has been freed from the vehicle.
A CFA spokesperson said an air ambulance is arriving on scene.
EARLIER: A person is trapped in a car after a crash near Heathcote.
Emergency services were called to the crash in Warrowitue-Forest Road near Youngs Lane, Heathcote, at 5.40pm.
CFA, Victoria Police, SES and paramedics are all on scene.
