Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services marked 20 years supporting people from all cultures in central Victoria.
Executive officer Kate McInnes said the service was looking to the future, to see what a vibrant, thriving multicultural community would mean in the next 20 years.
Ms McInnes acknowledged the deep and long Aboriginal history of Australia, saying the Dja Dja Wurrung people needed to be at the heart of conversations around multiculturalism into the future.
She said Bendigo had changed a lot since 1999, when it was a very culturally homogeneous community.
But Ms McInnes said the community still needed to do better to make sure everyone felt at home.
