As most of you know, it was an interesting week in Bendigo following the boxing match between Jeff Horn and Michael Zerafa.
The fight itself was controversial, because some argued the towel was throw in too late.
But the 'sport' aside, there was another important conversation happening - that we need to keep talking about. And that is the issue of objectification of women, in sport.
I wrote about the issue, and have been overwhelmed by the support from many in our community who share similar views - but don't take to social media to express them, as many others have in opposition.
Here's where you can find that opinion piece: Our Say: This is an issue bigger than Bendigo
Speaking of sport - this is the time of year when our sports team is not only busiest, but at its best.
The coverage of yesterday's Loddon Valley Football Netball finals was outstanding - and a big shout out to our sports team and photographers for the many, many hours they put in during the weekend.

This week, some interesting reports were also released - one which highlights the need for a better way forward for young people in regional education settings. Our students are not doing as well as those in metro and rural areas. And while there have been some significant announcements from the state government to address this, questions need to be asked - have we failed the young people in our system in recent years? Where are we going wrong? What can we do, as a community, to better support our young people to succeed?

Also worrying, was a report into isolation in youth justice centres - with the state ombudsman calling for a plan to reduce lockdowns and rotations due to staff shortages at Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct to zero, as a matter of priority.

These are all important community conversations, and we are thankful to our subscribers for supporting us to continue to provide a platform for those conversations to happen.
Enjoy your evening,
