White Hills won Saturday's B-grade second semi-final against North Bendigo 41-38, but the Bulldogs lodged a protest after the Demons played a player who was not originally named on the official team sheet.
The HDFNL board upheld the protest on Sunday night and North Bendigo was declared the winner 38-0.
North Bendigo advances to the grand final, while White Hills now plays Huntly in this weekend's preliminary final.
"The player's name was not written on the team sheet and that player unintentionally played under another name until it was picked up at quarter-time,'' HDFNL manager Jan Mannes said.
"When the quarter-time changes were lodged the name was on the quarter-time team sheet and the officials picked up that the name wasn't on the original team sheet.
"White Hills said the player played in the first quarter and that's when they realised she'd played under a different name.
"It's a scorebook error and it was totally unintentional. It was very distressing for the White Hills players and team manager."
White Hills Football Netball Club chairman Tony Gellatly said the Demons had accepted the HDFNL board's decision and would "move on" to the rest of the finals series.
Mannes said the reversal of the result was a warning to all netball clubs to ensure they fill in team sheets correctly.
"You just have to make sure you double-check everything and make sure the team sheet is correct,'' Mannes said.
White Hills finished the home and away season on top of the ladder with a 15-1 record, while its preliminary final opponent Huntly finished third with an 11-5 record.
