Senior Constable Todd Deason said three youths aged between 12 and 16 damaged two toilet bowls and two basins at the toilet block on the Midland Highway side of Lake Weeroona at about 9.40pm on Friday.
"A nearby resident heard smashing and banging and came out and yelled out to the kids who took off along the bike track," Senior Constable Deason said.
"The resident then went over saw the damage to the toilets, turned off the water and called the police."
Senior Constable Deason said he expect the cost of repairs to be in the thousands.
The three youths were described as riding BMX bikes and wearing beanies and backpacks.
City of Greater Bendigo council has closed the toilets for safety reasons until further notice.
Anyone with information should contact Senior Constable Deason at Bendigo Police on 5448 1300 or CrmeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
