BENDIGO City FC had a successful day against Ballarat City FC in the NPL on Sunday.
The under-15s, under-14s, under-13s and under-12s impressed with strong performances on home soil.
The under-18s went into the game with less than half of their squad available. Six under-15 players stepped up a grade and the club fielded its youngest under-18 team in its history.
The team played with great intensity in the first half to be only down 1-0 at the half. However, fatigue set in in the second-half and the game ended in a 7-0 loss.
The under-15 side went down a goal early in its clash with Ballarat.
Bendigo wrestled back momentum as the half progressed and Sydney Ndikumana equalised just before half-time thanks to great work from Poung Shu Thay.
In the second-half, Ballarat struggled to penetrate Bendigo's back four. Darnell Hetherington-Abuto controlled the midfield and linked well with Fionn Kennedy down the right.
Midway through the second-half, Ndikumana headed the ball over the goal keeper to make it 2-1. After receiving a fine pass from Alec Coulturi, Ndikumana completed his hat-trick with a clinical finish past the keeper. The 3-1 final score was a fitting result for Bendigo.
The under-14s went ahead with a tap-in goal by Jacob Floyd thanks to a nice cross by Beau Hetherington.
Ryan Kalms was a steadying force at centre-back. Kalms made a nice run through the midfield onto the left wing, which he then turned into a superb goal with a long range shot.
Ballarat scored a goal late in the game as Bendigo won 2-1.
A three-goal burst in three minutes set up a great win by the Bendigo City under-13s.
In the 20th minute a nice intercept by Jonty Fodor released Will Zantuck to find the back of the net. Otto Anstead's first goal of the season doubled Bendigo's lead before Jeremy Clemens made it 3-0 one minute later.
Clemens went on to score again in the second-half as Bendigo cruised to a 4-2 win.
The under-12s were back to their dominant best against Ballarat putting seven goals past the opposition and only conceding four across four games. Player of the match awards went to Archie Lee and Jack Ketterer.
Bendigo City travels to Moreland City this Sunday.
