On the mOVe co-ordinator John Noble said it was a rare opportunity for the 61 secondary school students.
"As well as being mentored by professionals, (the students) then sit alongside those people and perform together in concert," he said.
Mr Noble said as part of the week-long workshop, students had taken part in pop-up performances around the city.
"Some students and mentors got into the local community today and performed different concerts for the public," he said. "It helps bring more attention to what we're doing (with On the mOVe).
"(Students learning music) has always been quite strong in Bendigo, when you look at the size of the orchestra, 61 students, each family instruments is will represented."
The free concert will take place at the Ulumbarra Theatre on Thursday night from 6.30pm.
