Bendigo's first female Test cricketer sat back and enjoyed a quiet opening day as Australia dominated England at Taunton.
At stumps on day one Australia was 3-265 - on track to achieve, at the very least, a draw which would be enough to retain the Ashes.

Vlaeminck is number 11 in the Australian batting order and at this rate might not be required to bat in the first innings.
Her first spell with the ball is likely to come sometime in the early hours of Saturday morning (AEST).
Vlaeminck's Test match experience started when Australian fast bowling great Mitchell Starc presented her with her Baggy Green cap minutes before the start of play.
Standing beside Tayla at the ceremony were proud parents Paul and Loretta.
"We're obviously very proud of the journey she has had to take to get here and her relentless determination to succeed,'' Paul Vlaeminck said from Taunton.
That relentless determination to succeed was born out of a fierce competitive streak and injury adversity that would have been enough to derail the sporting dreams of those with less mental strength.
Two knee reconstructions and a shoulder reconstructions only enhanced Vlaeminck's desire to get the best she could out of her sporting career.
Cricket Victoria area manager for greater northern country Ben DeAraugo said Vlaeminck's Test debut was a proud moment for cricket in the Bendigo region.
"A lot of people from all over Victoria are experiencing joy from the success she's currently having,'' De Araugo said.
"Tayla has worked extremely hard to get to the point she's currently at. Her positive attitude and dedication as she's worked through her injuries has been amazing to watch.
"She absolutely deserves all of her future success."
