Chris Payne was travelling to work down Kennedy Street on June 26 when he was hit front on by a car turning right onto the McIvor Highway from Sternberg Street.
"I never saw it coming," he said.
"A lady with her two young children in the car tried to turn right in front of me. She couldn't see me."
Mr Payne said he had a green light but did not blame the other driver for the crash, noting that motorists approaching the road from her side cannot see around curve on Sternberg Street.
"This is the main problem, the shape of the intersection," he said.
"Everyone was okay and were able to walk away from the crash ... which is the most important thing."

Something needed to be done at the intersection to make sure people did not die, Mr Payne said.
In the past five years there have been 12 crashes recorded at the intersection, including one resulting in serious injury, according to Regional Roads Victoria data.
Those statistics only show incidents that police attended and recorded.
Regional Roads Victoria was looking at safety at the intersection, regional director (northern) Brian Westley said.
"We're constantly monitoring Bendigo's transport network, including the intersection of Sternberg Street and McIvor Highway, and we'll be investigating potential future improvements before updating the community," he said.
Mr Payne believed drivers should either not have the option of turning right onto the McIvor Highway from Sternberg Street, or that the lights should be pulled out altogether in favour of a roundabout.
"Lives in the future depend on this and it (a similar crash to his) will happen again, I can guarantee," he said.
