The driver of a black hatchback that ran off the road into a tree will be stabilised before being transported to hospital.
The man, 39, of Minto in NSW, is in a serious condition.
Bendigo Highway Patrol Sergeant Mick McCrann said the man had significant leg injuries.
He said paramedics would stabilise the man in an ambulance before transporting him to Bendigo Health, where he would be treated for leg fractures.

One person is trapped after a crash in Sutton Grange on Wednesday morning.
Paramedics were called about 8am to reports of a car into a tree.
The person has a suspected lower body injury.
One lane of traffic on Bendigo-Sutton Grange Road has re-opened to vehicles.
The lane inbound to Sutton Grange remains closed.
Police are directing traffic.

EMERGENCY services are working on a rescue near Sutton Grange after a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred on the Bendigo-Sutton Grange Road, a few hundred metres from the Faraday-Sutton Grange Road intersection.
Police, paramedics, Country Fire Authority and State Emergency Service crews are attending.
The road is blocked to traffic.
