More than $3.2 million will be spent on projects on Epsom-Barnadown Road near Huntly-Fosterville Road, Axedale-Goornong Road near Campaspe Road and at the intersection of Axedale-Goornong Road and Epsom-Barnadown Road.

In Barnadown, the intersection at Axedale-Goornong Road and Epsom-Barnadown Road will be staggered with Epsom-Barnadown Road to be realigned at a cost of $1.738 million.

More than 1.5 km of safety barriers, three kilometres of wire-rope barriers and wider sealed shoulders will be installed on Epsom-Barnadown Road near Huntly-Fosterville Road in Bagshot at a cost of $1.13 million.

A total of $400,000 will be spent on Axedale-Goornong Road, one kilometre either side of Campaspe Road, to seal the road's shoulders and install 930 metres of safety barriers.

Black spots in the Mandurang area also received funding with a staggered intersection to be installed in at Sedgwick Road and Nankervis Road by realigning Nankervis Road at Mandurang South.

About 4.3 kilometres of wire road barriers, and wider shoulders will be installed on Sedgwick Road from Nankervis Road to Storys Road in Mandurang South. The total cost for the Mandurang South project is $920,000.

Diamond Hill Road from Nankervis Road to Kangaroo Gully Road in Mandurang will have its shoulders sealed and the intersection and the sight distance improved thanks to $510,000 of funding.

In Maiden Gully, $405,000 will be spent on installing safety barriers on Olympic Parade from 450 metres south of the Calder Highway to 330 metres north of Symonds Street.

The intersection of Camp and Church streets in Kangaroo Flat will have a roundabout installed with the project costing $400,000.

Crusoe Road from the Calder Alternate Highway to Merindah Road has received $300,000 of funding to seal 1.2 metre wide shoulders at five locations.

Splitter islands on Victoria Street and Panton Street in Eaglehawk will be installed thanks to $133,000 of funding. The project also includes channelisation including kerb outstands and footpaths on both streets.

The funding is part of a $25 million federal government announcement for the Black Spot Program's 2019-20 funding round.

Seventy-one Victorian "black spots" will be improved thanks to the funding.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the funding announced for Victoria's black spots would help reduce the road toll.

"The Black Spot Program targets road locations where crashes are occurring, reducing the risk of crashes through funding safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at dangerous locations," he said.

"Funding has been allocated to road locations that have been identified as high priority, with 326 casualty crashes recorded at these sites over the past five years, including 15 fatal crashes.

"The panel that reviews priorities for the program includes representatives from the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria, the Victorian Transport Association, Victoria Police, the Municipal Association of Victoria and VicRoads."

Outside of Greater Bendigo, Macedon Range Shire was the only local government area to received assistance in this funding round.

It included $929,000 of funds to install almost two kilometres of guard rail and widen the shoulders on Mount Eliza Road from Rankins Road to Meadow Lane in Kerrie.
