The Central Victoria Football League Women's Inter-league squad put up a hard-fought effort against Northern Country on Sunday, but went down by 16 points.
The CVFLW team came out firing in the first quarter, putting two goals onto the board by the first break to NCWL's two behinds.
However, NCWL turned the tables in the second quarter and had a 15- point lead at half time.
The CVFLW squad attempted to take back the game in the third quarter with one goal and four behinds with NCWL only scoring one goal.
The scores were 5.4 (34) over 3.5 (23) going into the final quarter, with CVFLW trailing by 11.
However, the NCWL squad restricted CVFLW to just one behind in the final quarter to secure a 16-point win 6.4 (40) over 3.6 (24).

CVFLW's Heidi Erasmus (Kyneton) booted two goals with Olivia McEvoy (Golden Square) kicking one.
Best on was led by Lily Campbell (Kangaroo Flat), McEvoy (Golden Square), Erasmus (Kyneton), Jessica Cox (Golden Square), Rachel Thomas (Kangaroo Flat) and Alana Long (North Bendigo).
The team was made up of players from the six CVFLW teams and was coached by Hamish Morcom.

Strathfieldsaye: Crystal West, Alice Bailey, Britney Mueck, Angela Gamble (emergency).
When the teams met last year for the inaugural inter-league match the CVFLW squad secured a home ground 13-point victory at the QEO with the final scores 6.3 (39) over 3.8 (26).
CVFLW will play round round 12 this coming weekend.
The undefeated Golden Square coached by Rick Ladson remains as the team to beat with only four rounds left in the regular season.
