Bendigo trains were on time 87.9 per cent of the time in June, compared to 87.2 per cent in May and 87.7 per cent in April.
The Bendigo service was well ahead of the V/Line average of 88.2 per cent for the month, but down on the on time figures of the Swan Hill and Echuca Line (93.3 per cent) and the Geelong line (90 per cent).
The Department said V/Line recorded its best performance figures for the year, with the Bendigo line one of the services to have improved its punctuality.
"Additional staff at Footscray station played a more active role in platform management, helping passengers board and exit trains faster by providing additional announcements," Department Acting Deputy Secretary Alan Fedda said.
"V/Line are also trialling measures to help passengers board and exit trains more efficiently."
The latest data comes after some Bendigo V/Line passengers were forced to wait more than 40 minutes last week after a track fault delayed five morning services.
