THE Heathcote District Football-Netball League will induct 20 people into its inaugural Hall of Fame next year.
The function will be held on Sunday, August 2, at the All Seasons next year in what's a first for the competition that has almost 120 years of history.
"We understand we're the third longest consecutive league in country Victoria and haven't had anything like this before in terms of a Hall of Fame, so it's something we're looking forward to," HDFNL chairman Peter Cole said on Friday.
"We're a competition that has had 42 teams in it, so there's a lot of research that has to be done; we have a sub-committee being chaired by Dennis McCormick with six people on it."
The objective of the Hall of Fame is to "recognise those outstanding individuals that have made a significant contribution in the HDFNL, specifically: players, coaches, administrators, umpires and media".
Hall of Fame nomination forms and criteria have been submitted to clubs this week. Nominations will close on Thursday, April 9.
