ROUND six in Athletics Victoria's XCR19 series is on the flat Lakeside circuit at Albert Park this Sunday from 9am.
Flack Advisory Bendigo Region's teams will be aiming to strike back after finishing out of the top three in all categories it raced in last Saturday's round of the Sandown Relays.
Racing at Albert Park will be a 10km showdown on a fast and flat circuit.
Runners will race two laps of the 5km circuit, which starts and finishes at the Lakeside Stadium precinct and involves racing to Junction Oval on Lakeside Drive and back.
Bendigo's possible team for men's division two is Andy Buchanan, Brady Threlfall, Nathan Stoate, Nathan Meade, Brad Croker, Nigel Preston and Stephen Van Rees.
The team is bolstered by the return of Buchanan and Threlfall, who raced at the Gold Coast Marathon last Sunday.
Buchanan was third in the 21.1km half marathon, and Threlfall was eighth overall and best of the 30-34 years division in the 10km race.
At last year's Lakeside 10, Threlfall was ninth in 30.23.
Brad Croker is a newcomer to Bendigo region as Nathan Stoate prepares for consecutive appearances in the Bendigo colours.
There may be a late change to the line-up as Nathan Meade and his wife, Kelsey, are expecting their first child this Sunday.
Other athletes from Bendigo Region who have committed to the Albert Park event are Michael Bieleny, Anne Buckley, Jayson Carter, Andrew Creer, Darren Hartland, Trevor Kelly, Ben Stolz and Jill Wilkie.
The talented Archie Reid will race 10km, but in the under-20 class.
A year ago, Reid was sixth in the under-18 event.
It's yet to be resolved if Bendigo will have enough runners to field a women's team.
Athletes on the "maybe" list are Harrison Boyd, Tim Creer, Melissa Douglas, Juliet Heah, David Heislers, Matthew Heislers, Lee McCullagh, Luke Millard, Jayden Padgham, Joanne Russell, Logan Tickell and Rebecca Wilkinson.
Remaining rounds in XCR19 are Ballarat's road race on July 27, Cruden Farm cross country on August 10, Victorian Half Marathon on September 8 at Burnley, and Tan Relays on September 21.
