Leigh Flower, 31, pleaded guilty in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court yesterday to six charges of theft from a shop and one charge of possessing a controlled weapon.
In June and July, Flower stole a battery, a pie, $300 headphones, a $275 hair straightener, a pen, and two more sets of headphones, worth $120 each, from six different stores.
After the theft of the two sets of headphones, Flower was arrested and searched in Mitchell Street.
The headphones were found and returned to the shop, but Flower was also found carrying a 30-centimetre knife.
Defence lawyer Kate Youngson said the crimes were spontaneous, and Flower had mental health issues and an acquired brain injury. He pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, she said, and was co-operative with police.
Flower was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, with two days already served.
If not for his plea, Flower would have faced a month in prison.
