In a game tipped to be a preview of the grand final, Golden Square defeeated Kangaroo Flat by 32 points at Dower Park.
The Roos matched Square for the first half, but the visitors took over in the second half to win 8.11 (59) to 4.3 (27).
Sarah Ingram kicked two goals and was best for Square alongside Letisha Stewart, Liz Watkins and Gemma Free.
Kangaroo Flat's best were Emily Connor, Ruby Campbell, Rachel Thomas and Molly Metcalf.
Golden Square (11-0) now holds a three-game lead over the Roos (8-3) at the top of the table.
Third-placed Strathfieldsaye returned to form in emphatic style against Kyneton.
The return of siblings Aisling and Maeve Tupper made a big impact for the Storm in the 20.17 (137) to 3.1 (19) win.
Aisling kicked three goals in a best on ground performance and Maeve booted three goals as well to be one of the Storm's best.
Star forward Britney Mueck kicked six goals for Strathfieldsaye.
Shannon White, Mikaela Holman and Teagan Ainslie were best for the Tigers.
In the final game of the round, North Bendigo held off Eaglehawk by two points in a thriller at Atkins Street.
North Bendigo only kicked one goal after quarter-time and was scoreless in the final term, but did enough to in 3.5 (23) to 3.3 (21).
Roweena Ilsley, Tanika Thomson and Jesse Jorgensen were the standouts for North Bendigo.
The Borough, who narrowly missed out on a second-straight win, were best served by Georgina Hyett, Beppina Marshall and Jacynta Cochrane.
