The Supreme Court trial will take place in Ballarat from October 7.
It's believed the trial will run for between five to seven days.
In early June, the trial's jury was discharged after a commercial television news broadcast potentially prejudicial information.
The accused man, 40-year-old Ben Wardlaw from Percydale, has been remanded in custody until the case returns to court.
Wardlaw is accused of murdering Karen Ashcroft, who died in Maryborough in May, 2018.
He had pleaded not guilty to murder.
