A man has been charged with two counts of arson, one count of conduct endangering life and another count of attempted arson following a series of suspicious fires in Bendigo on Wednesday morning.

CFA and Victoria Police attended the fires at a house in Inglis Street, West Bendigo, a fire at a block of units in King Street Bendigo, and a fire underneath a house in Wills Street.
The man was charged in relation to the incidents on Thursday afternoon and faced an out-of-sessions court hearing.

The matter was heard before the Bendigo Magistrates Court on Friday morning but the accused did not appear in court.
The court heard it was the man's first time in custody.
There was no application for bail.
The man will appear at the Bendigo Magistrates Court for a committal hearing in October.
