CHANGES to the under-18 format, having a separate "white ball" ladder to the season-proper and Twenty20 and one-day fixturing are among the topics Bendigo District Cricket Association clubs have until Friday to have their say on.
Following the league's summit in May, the BDCA has issued a survey to its clubs to help set the future direction of the competition, with responses due back on Friday.
"This is the chance to allow the clubs to put forward their thoughts on a number of topics," BDCA secretary Travis Harling said on Thursday.
* Some of what the clubs are being asked:
ONE-DAY CRICKET FIXTURING:
* One-day games in round one, last round before Christmas, first two rounds after Christmas (stay as is);
* One-day games played in block at start of season (first four rounds);
* One-day games played in a block during January (first four rounds after Christmas).
DUCKWORTH LEWIS:
* Introduction of Duckworth Lewis for rain-affected scheduled 45-over and 20-over matches only.
TWENTY20 CRICKET:
* Support current Tuesday night format;
* Support moving games to a Sunday and played as double headers;
* Twenty20 games played in a block during January (first four Saturdays after Christmas);
* Increase marquee players from one to two for each game.
SENIOR COMPETITIONS:
* Leave as is, currently 9/4 (nine two-dayers, four one-dayers) and separate Twenty20 ladder;
* Only the scheduled nine two-day games count towards the ladder for the two-day final in March;
* Points from Twenty20 and scheduled one-day games count towards a white ball final and Twenty20 final.
UNDER-18S:
* Leave the current competition as is;
* Leave competition as is and introduce two overage players;
* Remove the age level of under-18s and promote better players to first and second XI and remainder into third XI and fourth XI;
* Keep the under-18s and play a shorter competition in a Twenty20 format on Friday nights on hard wickets.
